Web Hosting Servers How Do They Work?

Most people do not actually think about web hosting and how it works. They just go along with the fact that it works and then do not spend any more time thinking about it. The only thing they need to think about is the fact that others can find their website after the web host has placed it on the web. But for others the whole process of how a web host’s server works is a bit more interesting and something that they want to find out about.

How a web server works

A computer that places web pages onto the internet is probably the easiest way to describe a web server. When a visitor wants to view your website they make contact with your server which will then send the pages to the visitor’s computer. Of course the persons wishing to do this does not have to search out your server and send an email request for your page. The visitor should not be aware that any of this is happening as it happens so fast in theory.

Every website will have its own unique address which will be stored as its IP number. For internet purposes it does not matter that your website is called juicyhairybanana.com because only the IP address is read. When somebody searches for your website the browser will find out the server for the IP address and make contact. The server should then respond by providing the data which the browser will then provide on the visitor’s computer. So the real truth of the matter is that the website actually visits us instead of us visiting the website.

So any requests in relation to the IP address of your website should be dealt with immediately by your web hosts server as it should be ready and always online waiting. Although the reality is that almost every host will have at least some downtime. Anyone in the world can use your IP address to see your data.

Anybody thinking about venturing into internet marketing should have hosting sorted out. Newbie’s can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. For example, you may come across reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting when you are looking at different hosting plans.
